We’re Cute… Right?

Getting people to follow you on social media? Hard. Getting people to ‘like’ your posts? FREAKIN’ IMPOSSIBLE. There are so many cosplayers on Instagram who have a third of the followers we have and they get 5 times the amount of likes we get! How does that even make sense? I messaged another duo who is doing well with social media outlets and asked for tips. All she said was that she posted daily and it just kinda happened. How does 30,000 followers just “kinda happen”? They’re super adorable and post great pics, but I feel like we are/do too. We even read about having an event every week can help bring in followers. So, today marks the first day of Fan Friday… AND NOBODY SUBMITTED ANYTHING. Embarrassing? Yeah. Wait. It gets better. We are having to ask our close friends to participate in it until we can get the ball rolling. IF we get the ball rolling. You’re probably wondering why I am even sharing this info with y’all, but I promised to keep it real. Gotta live up to my word!

Moving on. I got two pieces of my costumes and they fit! I’d even say they’re a little too BIG. I am SO happy that my weight loss is showing. I’m gonna have to take in one of them for sure, but I rather have to take something in than have to return it for a bigger size. So, hurrah! I need to start working out. My weight has reached a plateau and I know working out will bring me out of it. Dancing for cardio and pilates for toning. Whipping up a schedule for it tonight. Wish me luck.

Oh! I will be dyeing things next week before I go out of town. I’m going to post before and afters. Fingers crossed that everything turns out alright.

Determination Train

First off, HAPPY SUNDAY! I am feeling a lot better since the last time I posted, and any obstacle that comes my way, I will conquer it. Can’t stop this determination train!

Anyway, my cosplay partner and I did a new photo shoot and I LOVE 90% OF THE PICTURES. That literally never happens. I bought my very first under bust and it gives me so much confidence. I was able to show off my waistline and be comfortable in front of the camera. Also, it was very clear I’ve lost some weight since the previous shoot so that’s a bonus. Speaking of weight loss, if I lose 2.5 pounds every week starting TODAY, I could be 40 pounds less by June 11th! Send good vibes, please.

Another thing that helped this go around is that we had someone take our pictures rather than us trying to take them. This helped tremendously because I had someone who captured me beautifully and posed me in a way that showed off my body in the best possible way. I’ve seriously never been this happy about a photoshoot before. Let’s hope there are many more like this in the future.

Current obstacles:
-Trying to get people to feature our cosplays

-Figuring out how to dye a wig without completely destroying it

I am looking up the most effective ways to dye a wig. Mashup cosplays are beyond difficult, but they turn out brilliantly if done right. I wish I could tell y’all what I’m working on, but it’s a surprise. ❤ Believe me, there will be TONS of pictures. I actually think I have found way to dye my wig, I am just really nervous to, but I gotta try!

Getting cosplay pages to feature you is harder than you think. If you’re not a toothpick with giant tits and a big ass, then you can forget about it! The thing that I’ve noticed that helps is being persistent. Just because they won’t feature you, doesn’t mean you can’t tag them in every single picture you post. I’m sure it’s annoying, but it gets them to notice you. I don’t tend to tag pages if the pictures aren’t professionally done, but our pictures usually are. We can only hope the right people notice us and appreciate our hard work. We are even trying to get our followers to repost our stuff, but so far, no tactics have worked.

I guess that’s all for this past week. Enjoy some pictures from our new shoot and be sure to follow and like our pages! We need all the help we can get.

YOU GOTTA FIGHT, FOR YOUR RIGHT, TO Buy a Costume?

I’m pissed. No. Not even pissed. LIVID. Do you know how fucking maddening it is to find a costume that not only comes in your size but also your friend’s size?! SUPER. FUCKING. MADDENING.

Okay, now that I’ve gotten that out my system, let’s move on.

Finding costumes when you’re a size 16/18 is a total NIGHTMARE. They (companies) have a habit of modifying the costumes for the plus size company. Betcha didn’t know that! And although the modified versions can be super freaking cute, and sometimes even more flattering, THAT’S NOT WHAT I WANTED.  I want the option of being able to buy the costume that the “normal” sized girls get. It seems like such a simple desire, but is denied so frequently. If the original costume comes with shorts, then why does the plus size version come with a skirt?! I need the shorts, not the skirt. My cosplay partner is in the small-medium range and it’s extremely difficult for me to buy a matching costume WHEN IT’S NOT EVEN OFFERED. Let me put it in perspective for you,  my cosplay partner was able to buy a future cosplay for less than 20 bucks. I am having to buy separate pieces, modify all of them, and I’m already sitting at 50 bucks spent (that’s me finding the cheapest options) and that’s not even all of the pieces! Yes, I know it’s ridiculous, and to say cosplay is an expensive hobby is an understatement.

Some of y’all may even be thinking, “Why don’t you lose weight?” And I’m not judging you if you are, but I am going to answer your question. I eat less than all of my friends, I eat healthier than all of my friends, and I EXERCISE, yet I still weigh more than all of them. Losing weight isn’t an easy task, and it’s definitely a work in progress. I’ve already lost 15 pounds since the new year, but that’s with an intense food & workout plan. Besides, no matter how much weight I lose, tops aren’t going to fit me because I have a bigger chest size and when I lose weight, my chest size does not budge. So, basically I’m just screwed.

But in all seriousness, why do I have to lose weight just to be able to buy the actual costume? Just because I am this size doesn’t mean I should be denied the costume. I’m sure other plus size cosplayers share my frustration, so I’m letting y’all know the hell we go through just to be able to wear the costume we want. Welcome to my amazing, but extremely frustrating world.
